Too much of my time is spent on indecision. The more decisive I have become, the more my life has improved.
If you are at a fork in the road and have done all the research you can it’s time to start driving, even if you are going in the wrong direction.
Chances are, if you find out it was wrong you can turn around and go the other way.
Before we jump in, subscribe here so you don’t miss the story about my childhood when I was 8-10 years old!
The Fear Of Indecision
When I was thinking about leaving the FLDS, I was terrified that I was making a decision that I could never fix.
When you overthink something long enough you start having serious paralysis.
Your brain is overworked and there is no path forward.
When I was trying to decide where to move, the same thing happened. Way overthinking everything.
Now these are big decisions. But sitting there is no way to solve them.
Learning From Your Mistakes
Sometimes it is better to fuck around and find out over being indecisive.
I finally came to the decision when I was leaving the FLDS that if I was going to hell then I would face it fully.
It is easy for me to see now that it was the best decision.
I even had a list of pros and cons. But even then I was having a hard time.
When I was trying to decide where I should move, I ended up changing my mind after I moved. But I can fix that. It was better to make a mistake.
Plus, some of these mistakes are important experience to help us in unimaginable ways down the road.
The Importance Of Action Over Perfection
If you have written down all the pros and cons, if the path forward is not clear then just choose whichever one you feel best about.
When I decided to quit my job and start my construction business, I was super worried ends would not meet but I did it anyway.
Making perfect decisions is next to impossible. Plus, many times when we take action, more and more opportunities open up and in the end we realize that our inaction in that moment would have hurt us significantly, considering the progress we have now made.
Looking back, even though it was rough going and everything did not go perfectly, I would be 5 years more inexperienced in business if I had not taken the leap.
It is scarier to think about jumping than it is to jump.
The idea that a better time will come is a lie. It probably won’t and the older you get the more riskier everything becomes.
Taking Calculated Risks
If your dreams don’t scare you that is a problem.
Everything will not pan out perfectly, but it could go way better than you think.
Here is an important consideration: Your dreams for sure won’t happen if you don’t try.
If you fail then you can try again. But if you don’t try then you are failing already.
Imagine telling yourself, “I failed”. That is what you are doing when you don’t run the risk of trying.
We should be wise with our risks. But most of the time in the moment they will seem riskier than they actually are. If the math pans out, go for it!
And if a girl is right there, get her number!(Hey I am talking to me lol)
Bold decisions are better than indecisive ones. Even if they are the wrong decisions.
Cultivating A Growth Mindset
If you see every mistake as a failure, you don’t have the correct mindset for success.
Instead, start seeing mistakes as successful learning experiences.
When making a plan, understand that you will meet some failures, but they are absolutely essential to your success.
Change your outlook on failure to be this: If I learned then I succeeded. That way you can move on quickly and start doing things correctly.
When I look back on my most indecisive moments, I realize that once I actually made a decision then I started progressing.
Often those decisions end up being no brainers after awhile.
Like leaving the FLDS lol.
Or starting my business.
Or moving.
Those decisions I was most scared of have brought me the most satisfaction in hind sight.
With all these considerations, I want to leave you with this thought about your past success. Understand the value in some failures and obstacles.
So I hope that will encourage you to take the leap and do some big things in life!
